Building the Greenhouse

Because some of our plants need warmth, we bought a greenhouse to help our plants to grow. When we bought it, it looked like this...

We worked together to build the greenhouse...

This is what it looks like now.

Looking good so far

The runner beans are looking good so far and are starting twist and twine around the trellis.
Sadly two of the beans have been eaten, one by ants and we're not quite sure what has happend to the outher. So hopefully we are going to spread some slug pellits over the beans.

Sowing in Spring

When we planted the spring onion seeds, we watered them and waited...

After a few days, there were some shoots coming up.

The spring onions take about 17 to 19 weeks to grow, so we won't be eating them for a long time.

And we're off...

These are the things we bought to get us started.

We weren't quite sure which plants to pick, because there was a large variety to choose from. After having a good look around, we finally decided to buy the Physallis and Tomato plants.

The runner beans, which had already been grown inside, were big enough to be planted outside, so we put up the trellis and planted the beans...

Can't wait till we plant something else I think it's onions next.

Digging, Hoeing and Raking

Although the plot was looking ready, we still had more work to do.

Once we had finished breaking up the soil, we started to build the trellis to support the runner beans.

After Lots of Hard Work...

Once we had finished tidying up, we started to get the soil ready for planting. Dad used the fork to dig it up and used the hoe to smash the solid lumps of mud up.

When we had finished, it was looking perfect, so we put netting over it to stop animals going onto the plot and spoiling it.

Next we are going to plant some of the vegetable seeds. I'm feeling excited about that and can't wait until we can eat the vegetables.
